ABOUT URBAN AND RURAL NEWS

Welcome to Urban and Rural News

Urban and Rural News is a dynamic and independent news media platform committed to delivering credible, timely, balanced and impactful journalism to Nigerians and audiences beyond.

We are a team of seasoned journalists, reporters, writers and media professionals who understand the communities we serve and the issues that matter to the people. From the busy streets of Nigeria’s urban centres to the heart of rural communities, we search, explore, discover and report stories that deserve attention.

Our mission is simple: to keep you informed with facts, give a voice to the voiceless, spotlight important issues and connect communities through responsible journalism.

At Urban and Rural News, we believe that access to accurate information is essential to a healthy society. That is why we are committed to reporting the news from a different perspective—one that goes beyond headlines to provide context, insight and understanding.

OUR VISION

To become a trusted and influential news media platform that Nigerians turn to whenever they want to understand what is happening, why it matters and how it affects them.

We envision a media platform where truth, fairness, accountability and responsible journalism remain at the heart of every story.

OUR MISSION

Our mission is to provide the public with accurate, accessible and meaningful information through timely news reports, analysis, investigations, features and engaging storytelling.

We are committed to connecting people, communities, institutions and decision-makers through journalism that informs, educates and inspires positive change.

OUR TARGET

Urban and Rural News is built to be:

• A first destination when news breaks, providing timely reports on important developments.
• A platform for accountability, using objective reporting, analysis and investigative journalism to examine societal oppression, injustice, corruption and other social ills.
• A watchdog for the people, holding governments, public officials and policymakers accountable on issues affecting citizens.
• A source of enlightenment and entertainment, bringing audiences closer to trending issues, personalities, culture, sports and events.
• A voice for communities, particularly stories and issues that may receive little attention from mainstream media.
• A platform for political stability, promoting factual reportage, responsible public discourse and informed civic participation.

OUR JOURNALISTIC APPROACH

At Urban and Rural News, we understand that good journalism is not simply about being first—it is also about being right, fair and responsible.

We strive to verify information, present facts clearly and give relevant sides of an issue the opportunity to be heard. Our reporters are encouraged to ask questions, investigate beyond the obvious and tell stories in ways that help readers understand the bigger picture.

We believe journalism should serve the public interest while respecting accuracy, fairness and professional ethics.
