Abia North will rise again if am elected Senator, says NDC Senatorial candidate Uko Nkole
The Senatorial candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Hon. Uko Ndukwe Nkole has assured his constituents of Abia North that he would turn Abia North to a Mini-Aba city where industry, employment, available electricity, and infrastructural development would replace the present moribond situation.
Hon. Nkole gave the assurance on Friday at his home in Ozu Abam, Arochukwu LGA of Abia State while addressing Journalists on his plans for the Abia North people.
Nkole is a former House of Representatives member who represented the good people of Arochukwu/ Ohafia Federal constituency from 2015 to 2023, with several achievements to his credit.
Explaining his mission to the Senate before Journalists on Friday, Hon. Nkole said his people of Abia North deserve quality representation, arguing that Abia North will experience true taste of governance and legislative impact, if he mounts the Abia North seat at the Red Chamber of the National Assembly.
According to him, those who represented Abia North previously and the person who is currently on the seat, have tried their best.
However, Hon. Nkole reasoned that the socio-econonic and vast developmental needs of the Abia North people have not been met by those who went to the Senate.
He assured that every gap currently existing between the Abia North people and their representatives, would be closed, when he takes over.
Hon. Nkole regretted to bad roads, poor water system, lack of electricity, youth unemployment and other challenges in the villages are driving rural to urban migration but promised to reserve the trend.
He noted that the policies and other interventions he would apply as a Senator, would increase the values of houses, lands and property in the hinterlands of Abia North and ultimately make the economy of the Abia North to boom, a situation he said, would make the Abia North zone become the bee hive of socio-economic activities.
” The Economy of Aba is controlled by the people of Abia North, that is, the people of old Bende.
” So, we need to recreate a Mini-Aba in Abia North, create jobs for youths, add values to the Landlords in the villages. I have been going from village to village creating awareness.” Nkole said.
He cautioned voters in Abia North and other parts of the State to be careful so that they would not be deceived by the campaign strategies of the Labour Party, where he alleged that the LP in the State is making sinister moves to confuse people with the claims that a vote for LP is still a vote for Peter Obi.
” Peter Obi made Labour Party popular and made it to win elections all over the country but the same Labour Party disowned Peter Obi and denied him the platform.
” The same Labour Party is making sinister plans to reduce the votes of Peter Obi by telling people to vote for their ‘Papa Mama Pikin and all those things.
“Any vote to Labour Party is a vote for the Tinubu. Labour Party in the State is trying all possible means to sabotage NDC and Peter Obi”, he said.
He advised the Independent National Electoral Commission, the INEC, to ensure that the wills of the voters are not comprised or sabotaged.
” The monies that is being spent on INEC are funds from tax payers. It is not APC money.
” And again, what causesd the 2023 glitch, INEC has not explained that . So, it is not right.
By now, they must done a post-mortem, and say this is what went wrong because Nigerians are not ready to take anything short of free and fair election”, the NDC Senatorial candidate said.
Nkole who further said that NDC candidates, members and their supporters are proudly identifying and displaying the face and the values of Mr. Peter Obi publicly, said the same could not be said about other political parties in Abia North.
Most of these candidates, even in APC are hiding their presidential candidates from their banner, even Labour Party. They don’t even expose their presidential candidate owing to what, they know these people have not done well.
” It is only the Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu that everywhere you see him, you see him put Tinubu’s picture” he said.
Nkole said that over 160 Abia people got federal employment through him, when he was in the House of Representatives, even as he said that he helped several civil servants in Abia State civil service to migrate to the federal civil service, thereby making the State and Abia North in particular, function as part of the engine room and decision making in the centre, a feat, Nkole promises to sustain, if elected the Senator.
He made it clear that having spent 12 years in Federal Civil Service and also 8 years as a member of the National Assembly, he towers above the current Senator, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu and former Mayor of Ohafia LGA, Ogba Onuoha (Bordex) in terms of experience and legislative business.
