Isi Gate traders hail Gov. Otti for listening to their pleadings, promise bloc votes

Traders at Isi area of Umuahia, have praised Governor Alex Otti for his decision to allow their continued temporary stay at their trading basis.

Governor Otti had while responding to a question during his media chat last Friday, dismissed the calls for immediate sack of the traders from Isi Gate.

He said that his administration understands that a lot of families who do small businesses at Isi Gate, depend on them for survival.

The Governor noted that while efforts are on to put the infrastructure at Ubani market to order, his administration will not sack the traders for now.

Governor Otti informed Abians that noticeable sanity has been restored in traffic conditions around Isi Gate, away from what it used to be in the past.

But when Urban and Rural News visited the Isi Gate market on Monday, some traders who reacted to the Governor’s decision, described it as the best thing to happen to them in 2026.

Some of the traders including Mrs Grace Ndu, Mr. George Agha, Mrs Ada Benson, Miss Confidence Obioma and Chief Chimbuo Obieze, described Governor Otti as a compassionate man.

” I have a shop at Ubani market but because of lack of patronage and bad infrastructure, I returned to Isi Gate to get a small place where I trade.

” Any time Ubani is put in order again, I will be willing to go back there again” said Mrs Ada Benson.

Another trader who spoke on the matter, Chief Chimbuo Obieze thanked Governor Otti for allowing the traders to continue at Isi Gate.

He said that traders would vote massively for Governor Otti in 2027 election.

” Our votes are coming in bloc. Our Governor has shown enough love to us and the reward we have for him is to vote en mass for him in 2027.

” Our PVCs are ready for the task. Other candidates should wait till 2031 because there is no vacancy in Abia State Government House”, the trader, Chief Obieze said.
