Association of Christian Traditional Rulers in Nigeria to hold prayer on November 29 in Umuahia, as Eze Ofoegbu, Eze Ohanwe seek peace and unity in Igbo land, Nigeria

In their total determination to sustain the peace, stability and unity of Igbo land, entire Eastern region and the Nigeria nation, the members of the Association of Christian traditional rulers in Nigeria have mapped out November 29, 2026 as a special day to pray for God’s blessings upon the country Nigeria.

The special prayer which will be used to offer prayer for our political leaders, would be used to seek the God’s blessings and guidance upon President Bola Tinubu, Governor Alex Otti of Abia State , Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State and other Governors in the Eastern region.

It would also be used to seek God’s blessings and guidance on State and Federal legislators, especially those who are representing their constituencies very well and those who respect and remember their traditional rulers.

The special prayer which will be held at the Palace of the traditional ruler of Umudiawa ancient kingdom, His Royal Eminence, Eze (Pastor) Nnamdi Ofoegbu, (Oroko Abia) , at Umudiawa, is expected to attract several members of the Association of Christian Traditional Rulers.

Briefing Journalists in Umuahia at the Palace of Eze Nnamdi Ofoegbu on Friday, the Paramount ruler of Isiama autonomous community, Isiala Mbano Local Government Area, Okigwe Zone in Imo State, Eze Oliver Chinedu Ohanwe (Obi Gburugburu), said the association of Christian Traditional Rulers in Nigeria has over 5,000 members cut across different parts of the Eastern region.

Eze Ohanwe who is the Chairman, Board of the Association of Christian Traditional Rulers in Nigeria, said that more than 34 members of the group are from Imo State.

He noted that the membership and influence of the Association is in Abia, Imo, Enugu, Anambra, Ebonyi, Delta, Rivers, Bayelsa, Cross River and other States in the Eastern region.

He noted that the prayers and other duplications being said by the members of the Association, have contributed to the peace in Igbo land and the entire country at large.

Eze Ohanwe explained that the Christian Traditional Rulers are interested in seeking God’s special intervention for a just, peaceful and developed country, hence the need to hold the special prayer on November 29, 2026 and then continue in Imo State.

He further made it clear that The Association of Christian Traditional Rulers does not belong to a particular political party but only prays for good things to happen in Igbo land and Nigeria.

He commended Governor Alex Otti for his achievements in the State and also described Governor Hope Uzodinma as a passionate and humanitarian leader.

Earlier in his opening speech, the traditional ruler of Umudiawa ancient kingdom, His Royal Eminence, Eze (Pastor) Nnamdi Ofoegbu (the Oroko Abia), said the special prayer which would be held on November 29, 2026, is coming on the heels of the 2025 prayer program of the group.

Eze Ofoegbu (Pastor) said ” We are praying for life and security, we are praying against untimely death and insecurity in the South East, the entire Easter region and the country at large.

” We must pray for the President, Bola Tinubu for God’s guidance and God’s protection on the leadership of Nigeria.

” We are praying for Abia State Governor Alex Otti and other Governors of the the other States in the region and we are praying for our House of Assembly and Federal legislators, especially those who represent their people very well and those who recognize and respect the traditional rulers.

” It is a day mandated by God for us to pray against untimely death and other crises. Every son and daughter of Eastern region,on the 29th November is a day of prayer.

Eze Ofoegbu continued :

” We will be praying that the election that is coming, will be very peaceful in Igbo land and other parts of Nigeria.”

He further said that the prayers would help in deeping unity, peace , collective focus for the development of the Igbo nation and more of God’s blessings upon the leaders of the country.

On the significance of the prayer holdoin his Palace, Eze (Pastor) Nnamdi Ofoegbu recalled that the First Military Head of State, Major General Aguiyi-Ironsi who was killed in Coup plot, was a son of Igbo land from Umuahia .

He also said that former Premier of old Eastern region, Dr. Michael Okpara was also an indigene of Umuahia, even as he said that the present House of Representatives member representing Ikwuano/ Umuahia Federal constituency, Hon. Obi Aguocha is from Umuahia.

Eze Ofoegbu used the opportunity of the press conference to explain that it was very important for political leaders to connect themselves to the prayers of the Association of Christian Traditional Rulers in Nigeria, saying that doing that would link them to God’s favours and blessings.
